Quick Launch and Show Desktop in Windows 7

There is something that drives me up a wall about not having the quick launch toolbar on the new Windows 7 Task Bar. On top of that, getting used to the show desktop action being all the way on the right hand side of the task bar makes me go bonkers as well! Let's get that old Quick Launch back!

Modified Task Bar with Quick Launch

Step 1: Make A Quick Launch Shortcut Folder

First things first. We need to make a folder to store all our shortcuts for the quick launch toolbar we are going to create. Now the location we store this folder is totally up to you, but I am going to explain this with the location I prefer it to be in. Click your Windows Start Button on the left side of your Task Bar, navigate to your user name (ex. Greg) and click. This will lead you into the root of your user folders. I like this location because Documents, Pictures, Music folders etc.. are all located right here. Right click in an empty space in your Users Folder and click New / Folder. Name the folder whatever you like. For this example I chose "Quick".
